How to do a Boot-Level scan using Avast antivirus in Windows OS

What is a boot level (Boot time) Scan

A Boot-Time scan is that scan which started before the Windows is loaded at the boot time. It will help to detect and rectify the virus/malware from the boot so that it will not harm any thing to our system.

How to enable boot time Scan in Avast Anti virus

1. Open Avast Anti virus.

2. Click on "Scan Computer" on the left pane of Avast.

3. A drop down menu will be open.

4. Choose "Boot-time Scan".

5. On the right side pane click-on "Schedule Now'.

6. Now a boot time scan is scheduled from Avast and will be start on your next Restart.

7. You can also modify the type of scan on Boot by clicking on "Setting" there.

8. That is it. Now restart your system and start a boot scan. Follow of the steps to delete the viruses on Boot Scan.

How to remove write protection from the USB disk in Windows

Sometimes we get a problem on our PC that when we try to copy something to our USB disk it shows an error that "The disk is write protected". If the problem is due to viruses or any error in Windows registry then it can be rectified. But someone has intentionally make it write protected by adding a password then it will not work.

Process:
1. Open registry Editor.

2. Navigate to  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies
3. Create a new key "WriteProtect" there.
4. Change the Value of write protect key to 0 In the Value Data Box. Press OK
5. Exit Registry
6. Restart your computer and re-connect your USB pen drive on your computer.
That is it.

How to password protect a website in Windows using Avast Antivirus

The below process will show you how can we restrict a website with password using an open source avast antivirus program.

1. Open avast program and add a password to the Avast.

2. After addition of password click on "Additional Protection" on the left pane of avast program.
3. Choose "Site Blocking".
4. On the right pane tick on "Enable site blocking" on the open window.
5. Then on the "URLs to Block" section add the website that you want to block.
6. Click on Enter. (Give the password for confirmation if asked)
7. That is it. Now reboot your system and you will find that the URL are blocked by Avast.

Note: To open those URL remove them from site blocking on step 5.

How to add password to Avast! Antivirus

Avast antivirus is an antivirus which is available as free and paid version for windows operating system  The latest version of avast antivirus is compatible with Windows 8. Add Password to Avast Antivirus Program

1. Open Avast antivirus.

2. Click on "setting".

3. Navigate to "passwords" tab on the left pane of open Window.

4. On the right pane you will get an option "Protect avast with password". Just tick that option.

5. Now Enter your desired password for avast two time on the boxes "Password" and "Re-Enter Password".

6. below that you will get an option "Protected Areas". Just tick the option on where you want avast ask for password.

7. Click on "Ok". That is it. Now your avast program is password protected.

Remove Passwords from Avast! Antivirus

To remove passwords from Avast antivirus you just unchecked the option at step-4

Installation Process OF K-Lite-Codec-Pack

1. Right Click on the application and "Run as Administrator"

2. Click on "Next"

3. Choose "Advanced Mode" and Select "next".

4. It will show the Installation path. Click "Next"

5. Now it will show the installation component. Unchecked the option "Player" so that classic window 123 player will not installed to play all audio and video and Windows Media Player will be able to play all the videos. Again Next -> Next ->

6. Uncheck the option "Reset all the setting to their defaults". Click "Next" -> NEXT

7. Now the Player Association Window will be open. Checked in "Windows Media Player" and Click "next".

8. Now the File association for the Windows Media Player will open. Choose "Select all audio" and "Select all video" and click "Next"

9. Now thumbnail Association Window will open. Just  select "Select all" and click "next."

10. Now on the speaker configuration Window select your speaker configuration and click "next"

11. Follow the instruction and complete the rest of the installation process.

Note: The above steps are from K-Lite codec pack v 9.7.4. The process amy varies for other version. But you have to keep in mind about the program and file association and uncheck the option of installation of other player in installation component.

How to Uninstall an Update in Windows XP

Process:
1. Go to Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs
2. Navigate to "Change or Remove programs" tab. (By default it will be selected. If not then change it).
3. Check the option "Show Updates" on the top of the Window.
4. Scroll down the Horizontal Scroll-bar and select the update you want to uninstall.
5. After selection of update you get a "Remove" option at the right side of that update.

6. Click on "Remove". UAC prompt will ask for confirmation about that process.
7. Uninstall process will take some time.
8. After completion of un-installation process reboot your system.

How to uninstall an update in Windows 7
